The Power of Strategic Private Sector Partnerships
Intersite’s commitment to transforming transit precincts into vibrant, economically sustainable hubs is exemplified by one of its flagship projects, the Cape Town Station Mixed-Use Development. This landmark initiative showcases the power of strategic partnerships between Intersite and the private sector, fulfilling the secondary mandate of unlocking value in PRASA assets.
Retail Excellence
Commencing trade in December 2023, the development boasts a 6,700 sqm retail offering, anchored by SPAR, and has consistently maintained an occupancy rate above 95%. This high-performance retail environment reflects strong market demand and effective tenant curation.
Student Accommodation Success
The Cape Station development includes 3,071 student accommodation beds, currently achieving an impressive 97.13% occupancy rate as of May 2025. Notably, single studio units account for only 2.5% of the total vacancy, underscoring the desirability and quality of the accommodation offering. This development is a testament to Intersite’s vision of creating inclusive, accessible and commercially viable spaces that serve both commuters and the broader urban community.Of the 3071 beds available, 2778 are occupied by CPUT NSFAS students while 299 is occupied by private students.
